Kendall's Attendance Policy

Please call the school if your child will not be in school. If we have not received a call, the nurse has been instructed to call your home phone number first and then the mother or father's work number to verify that your child is sick. Upon return to school, please send in a written excuse. You do not need to call every day if you tell the nurse that your son or daughter will be out multiple days.

Please try to give us advanced notice of appointments, religious obligations or other absences if at all possible.

Our main concern is for your child's health and safety. Our goal is to insure that both the school and the parents know where children are at all times. If you have any questions regarding the attendance policy, feel free to contact either of our offices.

Thank you,

Perfect Attendance Award
The Perfect Attendance Award for the Elementary School is changing, effective Monday, September 15, 2008. The Perfect Attendance Award will be given only to those students who have PERFECT attendance—no absences, no tardies, no early dismissals for any reason. Outstanding Attendance Awards will be given to those students with one absence, one tardy or one early dismissal for any reason. The school day is considered to be from 9:00 am (in class) until 3:30 pm.

In order to encourage excellent attendance, the Perfect Attendance and Outstanding Attendance Awards (certificates) will be given each academic quarter as well as at the end of the school year!

As before, "excused" absences are those for illness, doctor/dentist appointments, death in the family and religious observances. All other absences are considered "unexcused". Also as before, if your child is going to be late or absent, please call 659-8920 any time day or night and leave a message for the school nurse with your child's name and reason for missing school.

Any questions, please call Mr. Wright at 659-8317

Medication at School

In accordance with New York State Department of Education regulations, medication may be administered to your child during the school day if the following are complied with:
  1. Written order from student's doctor.
  2. Written request from parent to administer medicine on form supplied by school.
  3. Parent must deliver medicine directly to the school nurse.
  4. School nurse will keep medicine in a locked drawer or file. Unused medication will be destroyed at the conclusion of the treatment if parent does not pick it up.
  5. Parent must report any change of time or amount of dosage.
  6. Medication must be in original prescription bottle with druggist label and directions affixed to the bottle.
  7. Self medication by the student is not permitted.

Nebulizers

Thanks to donations from the Kendall Lion's Club, the District reminds parents that KCS has nebulizers in the Elementary School and Jr/Sr High School for students with such medical needs. For more information call the school nurse.
Working Papers Available at School

For most jobs, students ages 12-17 need working papers, which require an application and physical exam. Students may obtain working papers in the Elementary School Nurse's Office, 659-8920, and at the High School Office, 659-2706. Most employers require students to have a Social Security number, which requires an original birth certificate, plus another form of identification. The nearest Social Security Offices are 17 Masse Place, Batavia, and 2745 Ridge Road West, Rochester.
