Castle Learning Castle Software, Inc. provides web-based review, testing, and assessment tools for elementary, middle school, and high school teachers and students in the areas of Math, Social Studies, Science, English, and Foreign Languages with additional offerings in math review and literature. Currently in the pilot phase in Kendall, this product supports classroom instruction, as well as assessing students throughout the year. Moodle Moodle is a Learning Management System popular as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites for students. The focus of Moodle is to provide educators the best tools to manage and promote learning, with homework assignments, quizzes, forums, wikis and activity modules. Many of our teachers utilize this online resource and your child's teacher may provide them with a password to access assignments from home. Destiny Library Catalog Destiny is 'one-stop shopping' for Kendall School Library materials and information resources. These days school libraries are more than just a collection of book titles. It's our school learning community's essential source of information including printed materials, the Internet, electronic databases, and much more. School libraries are hubs of learning and collaboration—accessed 24/7 by students, faculty and parents. Students and faculty can access Destiny through any computer with a supported web browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari). In addition, the Destiny offers services that match titles to students' reading levels, align collection materials to standards, and provide safe web searching. Accelerated Reader AR is a computer program that helps teachers manage and monitor children’s independent reading practice. Your child picks a book at his own level and reads it at his own pace. When finished, your child takes a short quiz on the computer. (Passing the quiz is an indication that your child understood what was read.) AR gives both children and teachers feedback based on the quiz results, which the teacher then uses to help your child set goals and direct ongoing reading practice. Student’s should only be completing the AR quizzes in school. RAZ-Kids RAZ-Kids is an interactive reading tool for our students to practice reading fluency and comprehension. The students have a log in and a password to get into their reading account. The levels in RAZ Kids are all individually based on each child's reading level and are adjusted to reflect their abilities. The students can listen to a story, read a story out loud, record themselves reading, and then take a comprehension quiz. SchoolTool™ Parent Portal Kendall Central School District is pleased to offer the SchoolTool™ Parent Portal, a tool designed to enhance the communication and involvement of parents in their child's education. The Parent Portal will allow online, timely, and secure access to monitor your child's academic progress and current attendance. Some examples of available tools include contact information, student schedules, assignments, attendance, report card/progress report grades.
